Helping Out With Malaria, One Book at a Time

Before anyone flips out and calls CNN – Yes I know it’s been a little while since I’ve made a post, but there’s no reason to alert the masses. It will still be a little while until I’m back to posting frequently to this blog, but that doesn’t make this post any less important.

To me, this is one of the most important I’ll ever make. It has the potential to save thousands of lives.

A young man named Michael Bungay Stanier has been trying to make a difference in the world essentially his entire life. He’s already written one book titled Do More Great Work, which is a 5-star Amazon title, and is in the top 10 sellers in three categories. This book has inspired thousands of people to not only become better entrepreneurs but to do great things for the world along the way.

Needless to say, Michael is an inspiring individual, and this project is nothing short of just that.

The End Malaria Project

Recently, Michael has managed to wrangle a plethora of amazing motivational authors together to produce an amazing book called End Malaria. It’s contributors include some of the most highly recognizable authors in the world, as well as many you won’t recognize, but nonetheless, it’s a great collection of information that you won’t want to pass up. Even if you don’t read it, you’ve still saved hundreds of lives with your purchase.

But I didn’t know that until yesterday.

I’m a little embarrassed to say that before reading Michael’s story, I didn’t know the impact that a $10 mosquito net could have on the world. Just one $10 net can save potentially hundreds of lives by protecting people from deadly malaria-ridden mosquitoes. It’s the highest impact per dollar in terms of saving lives possible – or as Michael says it, the cheapest unit of global change.

Each purchase buys two mosquito nets, which can help save literally hundreds of lives. It was a no brainer to me, and I’m doing my best to spread the word. Do the world a favor and pick up a copy, and be sure to spread it around yourself.

You don’t have to write a blog post. Just post the links to facebook or send a few emails. There are real people counting on it, and you can help give them a chance.

PS: I first saw this story on Brian Clark’s blog, Copyblogger, a highly respected blog about all things copywriting and some things Internet Marketing. If you haven’t checked that out, it’s a good one. I highly recommend it. And thanks to Brian for providing the venue for me to read about this great project.
