Action Steps:
- Challenge yourself to contribute above the minimum of your employer match
- Take an inventory (the more detailed the better, but any way you do this is fine) of your extraneous expenses that you could do without or decrease, and still live a satisfying life. Look at everything that recurs monthly. Look at all of your “luxuries.” Look at dining out, shopping, and any other area you spend often.
- Try to find at least $100 a month that you can contribute to your 401k, without making a huge lifestyle sacrifice. Don’t cut off everything, but the more you can find to invest and life comfortably, the richer you will be.
